This year's Fresh Attitude Showing Trust, Redeemer will be going through the book of Micah! Though not as well known as other books of the Bible, the Minor Prophets contain rich insight into the character of God and vivid truths about His faithfulness to His people. God spoke through His prophets to call out sin, to declare His holy judgement against evil, and to make clear our desperate need for a Saviour. Micah prophesied during the reigns of the Judean kings Jotham (750–735 B.C.), Ahaz (735–715), and Hezekiah (715–687). Micah announces that God's justice is coming in order to create a new future of love and faithfulness on the other side of Israel's sin and exile. Much of Micah’s book revolves around two significant predictions: one of judgement on Israel and Judah (Micah 1:1–3:12), the other of the restoration of God’s people in the kingdom (4:1–5:15). Rather than leave God’s people with the fear and sting of judgement, the book of Micah concludes with the prophet’s call on the Lord as his only source of salvation and mercy (7:7). The hope is that in our journey through this book together, we too will learn to cling onto Christ alone as our salvation and restoration.
